Tenderfoot Mountain Overlook
For families with slightly older children, we offer a ride on the dirt road that spirals up Tenderfoot Mountain at the end of F Street (Main Street) in Salida. The Civilian Conservation Corps cut the road during the Depression era projects and today it offers the best view of downtown Salida around. Downtown will be to our south, the Collegiate Peaks to the west and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the south. Each ride includes tall tales and stories about the history of Salida and the surrounding area.
If you have younger children, we can simply follow the road up. However, if you have older children and want to challenge them a little, we can also follow the singletrack trails up or down the front side of the mountain.
