Why Go Guided?
Why do a Guided Ride?
Why do a guided ride when you could just buy the guidebook and do it yourself? It’s a good question and guided rides aren’t for everyone, but for cyclists looking for a safer, more in-depth riding experience with a local, a guided ride is the perfect choice.
At Absolute Bikes Adventures, we focus on two main goals – we want our rides to be fun and memorable, while also being as safe as possible. Of course mountain biking has dangers no matter what, it’s an adventure sport, but we do all we can to make it safe for you and your family.
ABA safety measures include high-quality, professional guides with excellent local trail and area knowledge. This allows us to evaluate the trail conditions, valley weather and assess riders to make sure we avoid inclement weather, insure that our guests don’t push beyond your ability level and make sure you don’t get lost on the area’s many unmarked trails.
Absolute Bikes Adventures guides carry emergency communication equipment, First Aid kits and are trained in First Aid/CPR. Most of us have worked in the outdoor industry for many years – as Forest Service employees, bike shop owners, expedition planners, adventure photographers and more. We bring our many years of experience, and our passion for cycling, to every guided ride.
Our knowledge of the local area also lets us tell you the stories and legends of the area. It’s a great way to learn about Salida, the railroad history, the ghost stories and the surrounding mountains. Plus, you’ll likely leave with a new friend or two at the end of the ride.
Finally, on our guided rides, we try hard to customize each ride to the wishes and abilities of your group. Tell us exactly what you are looking for and we’ll analyze the trail options to pick the best ride.
We think you’ll find that Absolute Bikes Adventures’s emphasis on fun, safety and local knowledge will make a great day for you.
